Transition 2018 to 2019. Happy New Year

The past week has been a whirlwind, it was Christmas, having family time, impromptu photo-shoot and thinking about New Year's resolutions.

I am not going to lie, family Christmases and holidays can be awkward, teffric and dramatic all at once.

Many people have said 2018 's Christmas holidays were definitely not like before. Maybe it is because we are adulting and realising that we do not need to spend a ridiculous amount of money for one day or spend beyond our means during this time of the year.

The last week of the year I spent it with family and friends, it included a photo shoot in the heart of Africa's richest square mile, Sandton.

It was a learning experience, especially with a photographer who knows how to give direction and makes you feel comfortable.

Photographer and film student Siphesihle Mbhele made it easy for me.

Yup, the nepotism, he is my older brother and he did me a huge favour, I am thankful and bonus he is actually talented.

I have been to Sandton quite a few times and it is one of the most developed sites in the city of Johannesburg.

From the architectural viewpoint Sandton has taken a certain direction in terms of their new buildings, there is a cohesive shift of a modern, dark tainted mirrors, giving it a different feel and look.

The shoot also gave me the chance to give my best America's Next Top model pouts, smizing, and poses around the trendiest places in Johannesburg.

Jokes aside, it gave me the chance to see buildings in a different light, especially when the photographer tells you that the curves of a building preferably look better for a female shot, rather than straight line designs from certain building.

To the shades of a building, the darker the building the more likelihood the shoot turning out to be darker and not working with your outfit.

Never walked so much in my life, but they say the best way to experience a place is to walk through it.

I enjoyed myself.
The last few days of 2018 made me realise that family means more to me than ever. Appreciate them, tell them you love them and spend enough time as you can with them, because you never know when it will be the next time.

I have been struggling to put into words what 2018 was like. It was a rollercoaster, I learned a lot about myself, what I like, dont like and what I want from my life.

And it is okay to be selfish, got rid of those people who made me feel guilty of taking myself seriously. Thank you, next.

I also realised I am less stressed, filled with more hope for new opportunities, less anxiety and generally excited to hustle my way through 2019.

Seeing the hustle and bustle in parts of the city has given me renewed energy to go after my dreams, being self reliant, focus on my health and fitness and sharing my experiences to you.

To 2019, to learning, travel more, supporting local producers and content creators.

I am excited.
